CHARGERS BASEBALL FALL IN CACC CHAMPIONSHIP
New Castle, DE (5/14/11) The top-seeded Dominican College baseball team fell to the second-seeded Wildcats of Wilmington University, 10-3, this afternoon in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship game played at Frawley Stadium With the loss Dominican ends their season with an overall record of 28-17.

Wilmington scored a run in the top of the first inning, but the Chargers came back with a run in the bottom of the third to tie the score at 1-1. Senior catcher Rober Iglesias (Mays Landing, NJ) hit a one out single to right field and moved to third on the sacrifice bunt from freshman Tyler Clark (Cheshire, CT). Third baseman Michael Levy, Jr (Salisbury Mill, NY) reached on a throwing error which also allowed Iglesias to score.
The 'Cats took a 2-1 lead in the sixth, but DC came back in the bottom stanza as senior Dan Robinson (Massapequa, NY) received a one out free pass after getting hit by-a-pitch and moved to second on the ground out by Tony Blake (Windsor, CT). Christopher Gonzalez (Bronx, NY) delivered the RBI single up-the-middle to re-tie the contest at 2-2.
WU added two runs in the seventh and exploded for a five run eighth inning to go ahead 9-2 and topped off the ninth inning with a run to take a 10-2 lead. In the bottom of the ninth, Clark led off the inning with a walk and moved to second on a pass ball. Senior Mario Lopez (Antony, NM) hit a one out RBI single up-the-middle. A walk to Robinson put two runners on base and Blake followed with a single through the left side to load the bases. A line out double-play ended the game and give the Wildcats the 10-3 victory.
Starter Ryan Calby (Huntington Station, NY) took the loss, allowing four runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings of work.
