BASEBALL LOSES 2012 SEASON OPENER
Lake Worth, FL (2/26/12) The Dominican College baseball team opened the 2012 season with a non-conference loss to Mercyhurst University, 10-3, this afternoon in a game played at the Santaluces Sports Complex. With the loss Dominican falls to 0-1 on the season, while Mercyhurst improves to 5-2 on the year.

The Lakers held a 2-0 lead after two innings of play when the Chargers struck for a run in the third on the RBI single by Robert Alfonso (Kingston, NY) which allowed Xavier Bonilla (Bronx, NY) to score the unearned run.
DC tied the game at 2-2 with a run in the fifth as Alfonso dleivered the RBI groundout to second base which brought home Tyler Clark (Cheshire, CT).
Merychurst answered back with a five run fifth inning to pull ahead 7-2 and Dominican scored their last run of the game in the bottom of the sixth as Andrew Camardella (Pelham, NY) hit a one out double and later scored on an error. The Lakers added runs in the seventh and eight innings for the 10-3 victory.
Reliever Jordan Paszek (Sussex, WI) took the loss allowing five runs, only two earned on five hits, as he pitched the sixth inning.
