BASEBALL LOSES TWO IN NON-CONFERENCE DOUBLE-HEADER
Chester, NY (3/10/12) The Dominican College baseball team fell to 1-6 overall after dropping a non-conference double-header to Saint Anselm College and Merrimack College this afternoon in games played at The Rock Sports Park. DC fell to Saint Anselm College, 12-1 and lost to Merrimack College, 8-0 in the night cap.

Game One: The Chargers were limited to just one hit in the first game when they took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a home run down the left field line by Andrew Camardella (Pelham, NY). Saint Anselm tied the game with a run in the third, added two in the sixth, one in the seventh and eight in the eighth for the final 12-1 victory.
Reliever Cody Smith (Wales, WI) took the loss (0-1) in 2 1/3 innings, allowing nine runs (six earned) on four hits. Starter Ryan Calby (Huntington Station, NY) went five innings, allowing just one run on three hits in the no decision.
Game Two: Merrimack also limited the Charger offense, giving up just two hits in the shut out win. MC tallied a run in the first and added seven in the eighth for the 8-0 victory.
Camardella singled through the left side in the fifth inning and freshman Oliver Christensen (Coral Springs, FL) picked up a hit in eighth on a singe up-the-middle.
Starter Dustin Javins (Fort Lauderdale, FL) suffered the loss (0-1) in seven innings, allowing one run on four hits and recording 11 strikeouts.
DC is back in action tomorrow at the Rock Sports Park where they will face Saint Anselm College and Merrimack College again.
