CLIPPERS RALLY TO DEFEAT CHARGERS BASEBALL
Bronxville, NY (3/23/12) The Concordia College Clippers baseball team rallied from a 6-2 deficit in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 7-6, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) baseball game played at the Clipper Baseball Field.
Bronxville, NY (3/23/12) The Concordia College Clippers baseball team rallied from a 6-2 deficit in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 7-6, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) baseball game played at the Clipper Baseball Field.
The Chargers struck for a run in the top of the first as Christopher Gonzalez (Bronx, NY) hit an RBI double to left field for an early 1-0 lead. Concordia answered back with two runs in the bottom of the inning to go up 2-1.
DC came back with a run in the third, fourth and fifth innings to pull ahead 4-2. A Clipper error in the third allowed a run to score and a line out by Tyler Clark (Cheshire, CT) in the fourth brought home another run. In the fifth, a run scored on a double-play ball.
Dominican tacked on two runs in the eighth, Austin Holzknecht (Coral Springs, FL) and Robert Alonso (Kingston, NY) each produced RBI singles to give the Chargers the 6-2 lead.
Nicholas Kevlin (Conway, NH) took the loss (0-2) in 1/3 innings of work, allowing five runs (none earned) on three hits.
With the loss Dominican falls to 4-15 overall and 1-4 in conference play.
Dominican returns to action on Monday with road games at Chestnut Hill College.
