CHARGERS AVENGE LOSS TO CLIPPERS
Bronxville, NY (3/29/12) The Dominican College baseball team avenged a loss to Concordia College last week by defeating them, 11-7, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the Clipper Baseball Field. With the win, Dominican improves to 7-16 overall and 4-4 in conference play.

With the win, Dominican improves to 7-16 overall and 4-4 in conference play.
Dominican trailed 1-0 when the team exploded for four runs in each of the second and third innings to pull ahead 8-1. The second inning was highlighted by a two-run homer by Christopher Gonzalez (Bronx, NY) and later followed by a solo blast from freshman Robert Alonso (Kingston, NY). The other Charger run scored onan error.
In the third inning, Andrew Camardella (Pelham, NY) and Tyler Clark (Cheshire, CT) had back-to-back RBI doubles and Alonso later followed as he reached base on an fielder's choice which allowed two more runs to score.
The Chargers tacked on three more runs in the fourth as Xavier Bonilla (Bronx, NY) scored on a wild pitch and Tom Liang (Bronx, NY) later followed with an RBI single to left field. Alonso tallied his fourth RBI of the game with a single to shortstop to take an 11-1 lead. The Clippers put runs on the board in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings for the final 11-7 score.
Liang, Tony Blake (Windsor, CT) and Alonso each had two hits in the game, while Alonso had four RBIs.
Dustin Javins (Fort Lauderdale, FL) picked up the win (1-2) in five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and five strikeouts.
Dominican is back in action tomorrow night when they take on Felician College.
