BASEBALL ADVANCES IN CACC TOURNAMENT
Orangeburg, NY (5/8/12) The Dominican College baseball team defeated Caldwell College, 6-5, in the single elimination portion of the 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Championship this afternoon in a game played at Veteran's Memorial Park. With the in the Chargers, the third seed in the tournament, advance to the double-elimination part of the tournament which will take place May 10-12th.

The Chargers scored three runs in the first inning as Oliver Christensen (Coral Springs, FL) scored on a passed ball and senior right fielder Christopher Gonzalez (Bronx, NY) followed with a two-run triple to left center field for the 3-0 lead.
Dominican added two more runs in the third as first basemen Andrew Camardella (Pelham, NY) hit a two-run triple of his own, this one to right center field for the 5-0 lead.
Caldwell rallied with a three runs in the fifth inning and two more in the seventh to tie the score at 5-5.
In the bottom of the ninth, senior Tyler Sadawske* (Waukesha, WI) drew a walk and Tony Blake (Windsor, CT) was hit by-a-pitch to put the winning run in scoring position for the Chargers. A Cougar throwing error on a ball hit by Camardella allowed him to reach base and Sadawske to score from second base for the 6-5 victory.
Reliever Matthew Festa (Staten Island, NY) earned the victory (3-0) in two innings of work, allowing a hit and recording one strikeout.
Starter Justin Moore* (Wantagh, NY) went 5 1/3 innings in the no decision, allowing three runs on eight hits and five strikeouts. Anthony Pastrana (Queens, NY) went 1 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on three hits.
With the victory Dominican improves to 26-24 overall and advances to take on the second-seeded Wildcats of Wilmington University on Thursday at 3pm. The tournament is hosted by Wilmington and the game will be played at Wilson Field.
