BASEBALL DEFEATED BY ST. THOMAS UNIVERSITY
Miami Gardens, Fla. (3/4/13) The Dominican College baseball squad opened up the 2013 season with a 5-3 loss to non-conference foe, St. Thomas University in a game played this evening. Following the loss, the Chargers now stand at 0-1 on the season, while the Bobcats improve to 16-5 overall.

Dominican scored a run in the top of the first innings as freshman Carlos Lopez (Miam, Fla.) hit a bases loaded single to left field to plate a run. The Bobcats came back with a run in the bottom stanza to tie the game at 1-1.
DC went ahead 2-1 in the fourth as rookie Kenny Harrell (Pompano Beach, Fla.) doubled to left field to score Lopez. St. Thomas put two runs on the board in the fifth inning to take a 3-2 lead.
The Chargers tied the game in the seventh inning as Robert Alonso (Hurley, N.Y.) singled to right field to score Andrew Camaradella (Pelham, N.Y.). STU rallied with two runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning for the eventual 5-3 final score.
Caleb Whiteley (Joplin, Mo. suffered the loss (0-1) in three plus innings of relief, allowing two runs on three hits.
Ryan Calby (Huntington Station, N.Y.) went 2 2/3 innings in the first start of the season, allowing one run on two hits. Peter Martinez (White Plains, N.Y.) pitched the last two innings with two strikeouts and one hit.
Dominican will take on St. Thomas University tomorrow evening at 6pm.
