Dominican wasted no time as they recorded two runs in the top of the first inning for the 2-0 advantage. Nick Delgado (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) got a one out single to right center field and then stole second to be in scoring position for senior Tony Blake (Windsor, Conn.) who hit the RBI single to right center and later advanced to second base on a failed pick off attempt. Shortstop Oliver Christensen (Coral Springs, Fla.) hit a two-out RBI single to center field to score Blake.
The Golden Falcons scored a run in the fourth inning, but DC countered with a run in the fifth on the sacrifice fly ball to center field off the bat of senior Andrew Camardella (Pelham, N.Y.) to make the score 3-1. FC cut within a run again in the seventh inning as they made the score 3-2.
DC added two more insurance runs in the eighth on a two out two-run double to right center off the bat of second basemen Kenny Harrel (Pompano Beach, Fla.) for the 5-2 lead and eventual win.
Delgado, Blake and Christensen all had two hits for the CHargers in the win.
Peter Martinez (White Plains, N.Y.) improved to 2-1 on the season with the win after going eight innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and seven strikeouts.
Matthew Festa (Staten Island, N.Y.) collected his first save as he pitched the ninth inning.
The Chargers are back in CACC action on Sunday afternoon as they host Chestnut Hill College in a twinbill slated to begin at noon at Provident Bank Park.
