BASEBALL SWEEPS CONCORDIA COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/28/13) The Dominican College baseball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Clippers of Concordia College in games played at Veteran's Memorial Park. DC won game one, 4-2 and rallied to win the second game, 9-4.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/28/13) The Dominican College baseball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Clippers of Concordia College in games played at Veteran's Memorial Park. DC won game one, 4-2 and rallied to win the second game, 9-4.
Game One: The Chargers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as senior Andrew Camardella (Pelham, N.Y.) hit a run scoring sacrifice fly ball to right field.
The Clippers tied the game in the third inning, but DC answered with two runs in the fourth on a sacrifice bunt which scored a run off the bat of Nick Delgado (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Kevin Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) followed with an RBI single to left field to make the score 3-1.
Dominican added a run in the sixth inning on the sacrifice fly ball to left field from Rodriguez to go ahead 4-1. Concordia scored a run in the eighth for the final 4-2 Dominican victory.
Oliver Christensen (Coral Springs, Fla.) and Tyler Clark (Cheshire, Conn.) each had three hits in the game, while Rodriguez finished with two RBIs.
Anthony Pastrana (Queens, N.Y.) got the win (1-0) in 6 2/3 innings of work, allowing one run on six hits and five strikeouts. Matthew Festa (Staten Island, N.Y.) picked up his second save of the season in the final 2 1/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits with three strikeouts.
Game Two: The game was scoreless until the fourth when Concordia struck for two runs. DC got a run back in the bottom stanza on an RBI single from Christensen. CC added two more runs in the fifth, but DC came back with a run in the bottom half of the inning on the base hit through the right side from senior Tony Blake (Windsor, Conn.) to make the score 4-2.
The Chargers charged ahead with a five run sixth inning as a run scored on an error and Clark followed with a two run single through the right side to go up 5-4. Back-to-back sacrifice fly balls scored the other two Dominican runs to make the score 7-4.
DC scored two more runs in the eighth on a Clipper error for what would be the final 9-4 score.
Christensen collected three hits in the win, while Clark and Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.) finished with two hits.
Sophomore Peter Martinez (White Plains, N.Y.) got the complete game victory to improve to 3-1 on the season, allowing seven hits, four runs (none earned) and five strikeouts.
Dominican is back in action on Monday as they travel to non-conference foe, University of New Haven.
