(4/2/13) The Dominican College baseball team handed the visiting Eagles of Post University two losses this evening after defeating them, 9-8 and 4-3, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header played at Provident Bank Park. With the sweep Dominican improves to 8-8 overall and 6-1 in the CACC, while Post falls to 8-13-1 overall and 1-7 in conference play.

Game One: The Eagles scored three runs in the top of the third to go ahead 3-0, but DC got a run back in the bottom stanza as Kevin Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) tripled and scored on a Post fielding error to make the score 3-1.
The Chargers tied the game in the fifth on a two-run triple off the bat of Tony Blake (Windsor, Conn.). Post answered back with a three-run sixth inning to regain a 6-3 advantage, but Dominican got a run back in their half of the sixth on the solo home run from right fielder Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.) to cut the deficit to 6-4.
Dominican tied it with two runs in the seventh as a run scored on an Eagle fielding error and Tyler Clark (Cheshire, Conn.) hit an RBI infield single to make the score 6-6. The Chargers went ahead with a three-run eighth inning as Lopez hit a two-run single to right field and Kenny Harrell (Pompano Beach, Fla.) followed with an RBI single to left field to give DC their first lead of the game, 9-6. Post scored two runs in the ninth for the final 9-8 score.
Jordan Paszek (Sussex, Wis.) got the win (1-1) in three innings of relief, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and two strikeouts. Anthony Pastrana (Queens, N.Y.) go this first save of the year, while starter Matthew Festa (Staten Island, N.Y.) went five innings in the no decision.
Game Two: DC scored first in game two with a run in the second inning as senior Andrew Camardella (Pelham, N.Y.) hit an RBI single up the middle for a 1-0 lead.
Dominican tacked on two more runs in the eighth inning as Clark hit a two out two-run double to make the score 3-0. The Eagles came back with a three-run ninth inning, scoring two runs with two outs to tie the score at 3-3.
In the bottom of the ninth, Rodriguez drew a one out walk and moved all the way to third as Harrell reached on an Eagle error. After a Charger strikeout, Lopez was intentionally walked to load the bases and freshman Dylan Ebel (Coral Springs, Fla.) drew the bases loaded walk for the 4-3 victory.
Starter and CACC Pitcher of the Week, Peter Martinez (White Plains, N.Y.) went eight innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and six strikouts in the no decision.
Richard Leachy (Brookfield, Wis.) got the win (2-0) in pitching the ninth where he allowed two hits and two strikeouts.
Clark went 2-4 with two RBIs, while Camardella and Rodriguez also collected two hits a-piece in the win.
