BASEBALL TAKES TWO FROM CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE
Suffern, N.Y. (4/7/13) The Dominican College baseball team took two games from the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header played at Rockland Community College. With the sweep, the Chargers improve to 13-10 overall and 8-2 in the CACC.

(4/7/13) The Dominican College baseball team took two games from the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header played at Rockland Community College. With the sweep, the Chargers improve to 13-10 overall and 8-2 in the CACC.
Game One: Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.) put the Chargers on the board in the first inning on a RBI single to center field and added a run in the fourth on the single by Dylan Ebel (Coral Springs, Fla.) to make the score 2-0.
The Griffins came back with five runs in the fifth to claim a 3-2 advantage, but DC charged back with three runs in the bottom stanza on the RBI single from Lopez, a Griffin fielding error and a wild pitch to regain the lead, 5-3.
CHC scored a run in the sixth and added two in the seventh to go ahead 6-5, but once again the Chargers rallied with a four-run seventh inning as Lopez, Oliver Christensen (Coral Springs, Fla.) and Tyler Clark (Cheshire, Conn.) all recording run scoring hits and Kenny Harrell (Pompano Beach, Fla.) hitting an RBI ground out to make the score 9-6.
In the bottom of the eighth, Andrew Camardella (Pelham, N.Y.) hit an RBI single to left field and Harrell was hit by-a-pitch with the bases loaded for the final 11-9 score.
Lopez went 4-4 with two runs scored and 3 RBIs in the game and picked up his first save of the season after pitching the final 1 2/3 innings and recording four strikeouts.
Reliever Ryan Calby (Huntington Station, N.Y.) picked up the win in two innings of work, allowing two runs on two hits. Starter Matthew Festa (Staten Island, N.Y.) went 5 1/3 innings, giving up four runs on six hits and four strikeouts.
Game Two: The game was tied after one inning as Lopez picked up his fourth RBI of the day on a single up-the-middle to make the score 1-1. CHC took a 3-1 lead in the third as they posted two runs.
In the bottom stanza, Camardella hit a run scoring double to center field to cut the deficit to 3-2 and tied the game in the fourth on the RBI double off the bat of Ebel.
DC went ahead in the fifth with three runs on the singles by Christensen and Harrell, but CHC added two runs in the sixth to re-tie the game at 5-5.
The Chargers used RBI hits from Ebel, Nick Delgado (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Tony Blake (Windsor, Conn.) in the seventh to make the score 7-5 and added a run in the eighth on a fielder's choice for the final 9-5 victory.
Delgado picked up three hits in the win.
Starter Peter Martinez (Staten Island, N.Y.) improved to 4-1 on the season with the win, going seven innings and collecting seven strikeouts.
