CHARGERS DEFEAT ST. THOMAS AQUINAS COLLEGE
Pomona, N.Y. (4/17/13) The Dominican College baseball team downed host, St. Thomas Aquinas College, 11-6, this afternoon in a non-conference game played at Provident Bank Park. With the win, Dominican improves to 19-12 overall, while the Spartans fall to 22-11 on the season.

Dominican wasted no time getting on the scored board with a four-run top of the first inning. Left fielder Tony Blake (Windsor, Conn.) hit a bases loaded triple to left center field and later catcher Tyler Clark (Cheshire, Conn.) laid down a one-out sacrifice bunt which allowed a run to score.
The Chargers added three more runs in the third on RBI singles off the bats of Clark and Robert Alonso (Hurley, N.Y.). Clark later stole home to extend the lead to 7-0.
STAC scored runs in the fourth and fifth innings to make the score 7-4, but DC scored another three runs in the sixth inning on a two-run single through the left side from Blake and a sacrifice fly ball to center field from first basemen Andrew Camardella (Pelham, N.Y.) for a 10-4 lead.
DC added one more run in the seventh on the RBI single by Nick Delgado (Fort Laudale, Fla.) to take an 11-4 lead. The Spartans scored two runs in the eighth inning for the final 11-6 score.
Senior Caleb Whiteley (Joplin, Mo.) got the win (2-1) in eight innings of work, allowing six runs (four earned) on nine hits and three strikeouts.
Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.) came in to pitch a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
Dominican is back in action tomorrow as they host Pace University in a non-conference game at Provident Bank Park.
