Bridgeport, Conn. (4/23/13)  The Dominican College baseball team split a non-conference double-header with host, the University of Bridgeport, this afternoon in games played at Harbor Yard.  With the split, Dominican now stands at 22-15 on the season.

Game One:  The Purple Knights scored all of their five runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-0 lead.  DC got on the board in the top of the sixth inning on the two our RBI single from shortstop Oliver Christensen (Coral Springs, Fla.) to make the score 5-1.

Caleb Whiteley (Joplin, Mo.) suffered the loss (2-2), allowing five runs on (three earned) on seven hits and six strikeouts.

Game Two:  The Chargers rallied from a 4-3 deficit in game two with a four run fourth inning to pull ahead 7-4.  In the fourth, Dylan Ebel (Coral Springs, Fla.) had an RBI single and Christensen followed with a two run single.  The fourth Charger run scored on an error.

Dominican added a run in the fifth on the bases loaded walk issued to Christensen for the final 8-4 win.

Christensen had a team leading three RBIs in the win.

Jesse McIlwaine (Huntington, N.Y.) improved to 1-1 with the win in relief, pitching four innings with three strikeouts and three hits.
