ST. THOMAS AQUINAS COLLEGE DEFEATS CHARGERS BASEBALL

(4/24/13) The Dominican College baseball team fell in non-conference action, 22-9, this afternoon to the visiting Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College in a game played at Provident Bank Park. With the loss, the Chargers fall to 22-16 overall while the Spartans improve to 27-11 on the season.

With the loss, the Chargers fall to 22-16 overall while the Spartans improve to 27-11 on the season.
The bulk of the damage was done in the top of the first inning where the Spartans scored 14 runs on 10 hits and batted around the line up twice.
STAC led 15-0 after one and a half innings, when the Chargers scored four runs in the bottom stanza to make the score 15-4. Catcher Tyler Clark (Cheshire, Conn.) hit a two-run blast to right field and shortstop Robert Alonso (Kingston, N.Y.) later had an RBI triple to left center. An RBI ground out by Kenny Harrell (Pompano Beach, Fla.) brought home the fourth Charger run.
DC added a run in the third on the sacrifice fly ball off the bat of Harrell to cut the deficit to 15-5.
The Spartans added runs in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings to extend the lead to 22-5 after seven and a half innings.
Dominican recorded four more runs in the eighth inning as Harrell had an RBI infield single and Kyle Hall (Nassau, Bahamas) had a two-run single to left center field. Designated hitter Oliver Christensen (Coral Springs, Fla.) had an RBI single for the final run of the game in the 22-9 loss.
Andrew Camardella (Pelham, N.Y.) and Harrell had two hits in the game.
Starter Steven Pastrana (Queens, N.Y.) took the loss (0-1).
