BASEBALL SPLITS WITH BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE
Montclair, N.J. (4/27/13) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Bloomfield College, in games played this afternoon at Yogi Berra Stadium. The Chargers took game one, 24-2 but fell in game two, 2-1 to now stand at 24-18 overall and 15-4 in conference play.

Montclair, N.J. (4/27/13) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Bloomfield College, in games played this afternoon at Yogi Berra Stadium. The Chargers took game one, 24-2 but fell in game two, 2-1 to now stand at 24-18 overall and 15-4 in conference play.
Game One: The Chargers exploded for 24 runs in the first game to cruise to the 24-2 win. The Deacons led 2-1 after three innings of play, but DC had a 13 run fourth inning and a 10 run fifth inning to go ahead 24-2.
Right fielder Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.) went 4-4-with four runs scored and three RBIs in the game one win.
Kenny Harrell (Pompano Beach, Fla.) led the team with four RBIs, while four other players had three RBIs each. Austin Holzknecht (Coral Springs, Fla.) went 3-5 with three runs scored.
Anthony Pastrana (Queens, N.Y.) got the win, allowing two runs on five hits and four strikeouts in eight innings of work. Steven Pastrana (Queens, N.Y.) came in to pitch the ninth inning.
Game Two: The Deacons once again took the lead early in the game as they scored runs in the second and third innings to hold a 2-0 lead.
Dominican got on the board in the fifth stanza as catcher Tyler Clark (Cheshire, Conn.) had a two out RBI single to right field to score Lopez and make the score 2-1.
Right-handed pitcher Peter Martinez (White Plains, N.Y.) suffered the loss (6-2), allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and six strikeouts.
