BASEBALL SPLITS IN TWO NON-CONFERENCE GAMES
Miami Gardens, Fla. (3/4/14) The Dominican College baseball went 1-1 in non-conference action played today. The Chargers fell to Southern New Hampshire, 7-8, before defeating St. Thomas University, 4-3 in the night cap.

Miami Gardens, Fla. (3/4/14) The Dominican College baseball went 1-1 in non-conference action played today. The Chargers fell to Southern New Hampshire, 7-8, before defeating St. Thomas University, 4-3 in the night cap.
Game One: Dominican trailed 4-0 through five innings, when DC offense exploded for five runs in the sixth inning to go up 5-4. Leonardo Bravo (Bronx, N.Y.) had a two run single, while Luis Paniagua (Manhattan, N.Y.) and Alex Lorenzo (Miami Beach, Fla.) each had RBI singles. Catcher Tyler Clark (Cheshire, N.Y.) scored the fifth run on a passed ball for the lead.
The Penman answered back with four runs in the bottom stanza to regain an 8-5 lead, but DC scored two runs in the eighth on an RBI single from Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and a passed ball for the final 8-7 score.
Right-handed pitcher Corey Pic (Montvale, N.J.) took the loss (0-1) in two innings of relief.
Game Two: The Bobcats led 2-0 through seven innings of play when the Chargers charged back with a four run eighth inning to take a 4-2 advantage.
Third basemen Gabriel Valverde (Plantation, Fla.) led off the inning by getting hit by-a-pitch and then was replaced by pinch runner Gray. A one out RBI double from right fielder Riley Strickland (Boca Raton, Fla.) made the score 2-1. A fielding error brought home a second run and Kyle Hall (Nassau, Bahamas) and Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.) each produced run scoring single for a 4-2 lead and eventual win.
Brett Schneider (Coral Springs, Fla.) picked up the win in seven innings of work, allowing two runs on eight hits and four strikeouts.
Andrew Morano (Clintondale, N.Y.) got his first save of the season in two innings of relief.
Dominican is back in action tomorrow against Lynn University.
