BASEBALL SPLITS IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION
Brookhaven, N.Y. (4/5/14) The Dominican College baseball team split in non-conference action today with host, Dowling College, in games played at Golden Lions Field. DC fell in game one, 3-1, but took the night cap, 10-2 to improve to 7-13 overall.

Brookhaven, N.Y. (4/5/14) The Dominican College baseball team split in non-conference action today with host, Dowling College, in games played at Golden Lions Field. DC fell in game one, 3-1, but took the night cap, 10-2 to improve to 7-13 overall.
Game One: Dowling scored two runs in the first and added a run in the second inning to go ahead 3-0. DC got on the scoreboard in the eighth inning on the RBI ground out off the bat of Robert Alonso (Hurley, N.Y.) which brought home Kyle Hall (Nassau, Bahamas).
Left fielder Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) went 2-4 in the loss.
Peter Llerena (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) suffered the complete game loss (1-1), allowing three runs on five hits and five strikeouts.
Game Two: The Charger offense came alive in the game two as they jumped out to 6-0 lead after two innings.
Alonso delivered the two-run single up the middle in the first and added a two run double to right center field in the second. Catcher Leonardo Bravo (Bronx, N.Y.) hit a two-run single to center field for the 6-0 lead.
DC added four more runs in the fifth stanza as Gray hit a double to right field to plate two runs, Alonso was hit by-a-pitch with the bases loaded to bring home the third run of the inning and a wild pitch brought home the fourth Charger run for the 10-2 lead and eventual win.
Alonso went 4-4 in the game with four RBIs.
Gray, Jonathan Martinez (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) and Bravo all collected two hits a-piece in the win with Gray and Bravo each bring home two runs.
Anthony Pastrana (Queens, N.Y.) got the win (1-3) in seven innings of work, allowing two runs on four hits and ten strikeouts.
Andrew Moreno (Clintondale, N.Y.) pitched the final two innings.
