BASEBALL WINS TWO AGAINST PHILADELPHIA
Pomona, N.Y. (4/6/14) The Dominican College baseball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Rams of Philadelphia University in games played today at Provident Bank Park. DC won the first game, 7-3 and rallied to win the night cap, 7-6.

Pomona, N.Y. (4/6/14) The Dominican College baseball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Rams of Philadelphia University in games played today at Provident Bank Park. DC won the first game, 7-3 and rallied to win the night cap, 7-6.
Game One: The Rams took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Chargers rallied with two runs in the second, taking advantage of a Ram error.
DC took the lead in the third on the fielder's choice hit by Tyler Clark (Cheshire, Conn.) which brought home Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.).
The Chargers extended the lead to 4-2 in the fifth on a wild pitch and tacked another three runs in the seventh to take a 7-2 advantage. In the seventh, Robert Alonso (Hurley, N.Y.) brought home a run on a fielder's choice and Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.) singled home two runs.
Philadelphia got a run back in the top of the eighth to cut the lead to 7-3.
Gray, Lopez and Leonardo Bravo (Bronx, N.Y.) all had two hits a piece in the win.
Game Two: Dominican rallied from 6-3 deficit to score four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning of the nightcap in the thrilling, 7-6 victory.
Down 5-0 after 8 1/2 innings, the Chargers got on the board in their half of the inning with three runs as a run scored on an error, a bases loaded walk to Bravo and a fielder's choice off the bat of Donald Crispyn (Freeport, N.Y.) to make the score 5-3.
The Rams got a run back in the top of the ninth and in the bottom stanza Alonso got the scoring started with a run scoring single to right field and later Clark stole second and on the throw Jonathan Martinez (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) came home to cut the lead to 6-5. Luis Paniagua (Manhattan, N.Y.) singled home the tying run and freshman Riley Strickland (Boca Raton, Fla.) picked up the game winning RBI hit with a single to center field for the 7-6 victory.
Gray, Martinez and Alonso all had two hits in the win.
Reliever Joseph DeLaCruz (Wall Township, N.J) picked up the win after pitching in top of the ninth.
