BASEBALL SWEEPS NYACK COLLEGE
Pomona, N.Y. (4/22/15) The Dominican College baseball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host Nyack College in games played today at Provident Bank Park. With the sweep, Dominican improves to 16-19 overall and 12-9 in CACC play.

Pomona, N.Y. (4/22/15) The Dominican College baseball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host Nyack College in games played today at Provident Bank Park. With the sweep, Dominican improves to 16-19 overall and 12-9 in CACC play.
Game One: The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning when Dominican scored two runs on two Warrior errors, while Robert Alonso (Hurley, N.Y.) had an RBI single for the 3-0 lead. Alonso followed in the fourth frame with a two-run single to increase the lead to 5-0.
Third basemen Mark Vargas (Bronx, N.Y.) increased the lead to 6-0 on a solo home run, while the Warriors got on the board in the eighth inning with a run. Dominican added three runs in the ninth on an errior, an RBI double from Donald Crispyn (Freeport, N.Y.) and an RBI single from Brendan Woodruff (Cincinnati, Ohio) for the 9-1 final.
Vargas finished the game with three hits, two runs scored and two RBIs.
Alonso finished with three RBIs.
Peter Martinez (White Plains, N.Y.) picked up the complete game victory, allowing one run on six hits and six strikeouts.
Game Two: The night cap was scoreless until the top of the eighth inning as left fielder Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) singled home two runs and later scored on an error for the 3-0 win.
Vargas and Woodruff each had two hits in the game.
Anthony Pastrana (Queens, N.Y.) picked up the complete game shut out victory, scattering just three hits and striking out ten batters.
Dominican is scheduled to travel to non-conference opponent, Adelphi University, tomorrow afternoon.
