CHARGERS TOP CLIPPERS IN CACC TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND ACTION
Pomona, N.Y. (5/2/15) The #4 Dominican College baseball team defeated #5 Concordia College Clippers, 16-5, this afternoon in first round action of the 2015 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Tournament played at Provident Bank Park. With the win, the Chargers advance to the double-elimination portion of the tournament slated to begin on Thursday which will be hosted by Wilmington University.

Catcher Carlos Cabrera (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Chargers with three hits in five at bats and a career high four RBIs.
Mark Vargas (Bronx, N.Y.) finished with three hits, three runs scored and three RBIs, while Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) also had three hits and three runs scored.
Senior shortstop Robert Alonso (Hurley, N.Y.) recorded two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs, while Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.) also had two hits and added three runs scored.
Senior pitcher Peter Martinez (White Plains, N.Y.) got the win (5-2) in six innings of work, allowing five runs (three earned) on 10 hits and nine strikeouts.
Fellow senior Anthony Pastrana (Queens, N.Y.) got his first save after pitching the final three innings.
Dominican wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as they tallied four runs in the first stanza and exploded for seven more runs in the second for the 11-0 advantage. DC added three more runs in the third to increase their lead to 14-0.
The fourth and fifth innings belonged to the Clippers as they plated three in the fourth and two in the fifth to make the score 14-5.
DC added a run in the fifth and sixth for the final 16-5 score.
The Chargers will take on the top seed, Wilmington University, this coming Thursday at 9am.
