CHARGERS WIN SEASON OPENER
Myrtle Beach, S.C. (2/26/16) The Dominican College baseball team won their season opener last night as they rallied to defeat Queens College in the bottom of the ninth inning by the score of 11-10.

The Knights scored two runs in the top of the first stanza, but the Chargers rallied in their half of the frame with two runs on a Jonel Ozuna (New York, N.Y.) single to centerfield. QC quickly regained the lead with four runs in the second and one more in the third to pull ahead, 7-2 at the end of three innings.
Dominican got a run back in the bottom of the fifth as Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.) tripled home a run and tacked on five runs in the seventh frame to cut the deficit to 9-8. In the seventh, run-scoring singles from Ozuna, William Seymour (Sloatsburg, N.Y.), Max Franzone (Nanuet, N.Y.) and Brandon Simone (Bayside, N.Y.) cut the lead to a run.
Another Knight run in the eighth regained a two-run advantage, but DC tied the game in the bottom of the inning on Soto's second triple of the game which brought home two runs to make the score 10-10.
In the bottom of the ninth, Franzone led off the inning with a walk and Brendan Woodruff (Cincinnati, Ohio) came in to pinch run. He was sacrificed over to second on the bunt by Simone and following a walk to Joseph Libio (Tamarac, Fla.) to load the bases, junior Jonathan Martinez (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) delivered the game-winning RBI single to give the Chargers the 11-10 win.
Reliever Kraigen Rasella (Scranton, Pa.) picked up the win in 1 2/3 innings of work and collecting three strikeouts.
