Bronxville, N.Y. (3/23/16) The Dominican College baseball team rebounded from a loss yesterday to defeat the Concordia College Clippers, 2-1, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at Clipper Baseball Field.
Dominican scored both of their runs in the top of the first inning as Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.) led off the game with a single to right field and then stole second base. Left fielder Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) followed with a single to left field and advanced to second base on a Clipper error which allowed Soto to score.
Following a pop up, Bernacet advanced to third on a passed ball and with two outs designated hitter Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) had a run-scoring single to left field to bring home Bernacet for the 2-0 lead.
Concordia put a run on the board in the bottom of the second inning to cut the lead to 2-1 and that would end up being the final score as both teams were held scoreless through the remaining six innings.
Soto had two hits in the win.
Anthony Hunter (Palm City, Fla.) improved to 1-3 on the year in the complete game victory, allowing just one run (not earned) on eight hits and six strikeouts.
With the win, Dominican improves to 7-10 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
