SPARTANS RALLY TO DEFEAT CHARGERS
Chester, N.Y. (3/29/16) The St. Thomas Aquinas College baseball team rallied from a 7-0 deficit to defeat the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 8-7, this afternoon in a non-conference game played at Frozen Ropes.

The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning when Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) hit a ground-rule double which brought home a run and Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.) followed with an RBI ground out for a 2-0 advantage. Three batters later, Leonardo Bravo (Bronx, N.Y.) drew a bases-loaded walk to score a run and Jonel Ozuna (New York, N.Y.) hit a run-scoring single to give the team a 4-0 lead.
Dominican added to the lead in the fourth as Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.) hit a two out two-run double and pinch hitter Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) produced a run-scoring single to increase the lead to 7-0.
STAC got three runs back in the bottom of the fourth and tacked on five runs in the fifth for the 8-7 victory.
Lopez finished the game with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Decker scored two runs in the loss.
Nick Bird (Rotterdam, N.Y.) suffered the loss in three innings of relief, allowing four runs on seven hits.
Starter Thomas Saffiotti (Bergenfield, N.J.) went four innings in the no decision and allowed four runs on three hits.
Nicholas Generalli (Bronx, N.Y.) came in to pitch the eighth inning.
With the loss, Dominican drops to 7-12 on the season.
The Chargers are scheduled to take on Nyack College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header scheduled for 3pm at Veteran's Memorial Park.
