BASEBALL ENDS LOSING STREAK WITH SWEEP OF COUGARS
Caldwell, N.J. (4/10/16) The Dominican College baseball team ended a nine-game losing streak this afternoon after they swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from host, Caldwell University. Dominican took the first game, 3-0 and won the night cap, 6-0.

Game One: The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth inning when right fielder Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) reached on a fielder's choice which allowed a run to come home for the 1-0 lead.
Dominican added to the lead in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly ball hit to centerfield off the bat of Joseph Libio (Tamarac, Fla.).
The final run came in the ninth on the run-scoring double down the left field line from centerfielder Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.) for the final 3-0 score.
Max Franzone (Nanuet, N.Y.) went 2-3 in the game with two runs scored.
Brett Schneider (Coral Springs, Fla.) picked up the win (1-1) in seven innings of work, scattering four hits and striking out eight batters.
Sophomore Kraigen Rasalla (Scranton, Pa.) recorded his third save of the season, pitching the final two innings with one hit and one strikeout.
Game Two: Dominican scored two runs in the top of the first on the ground out by designated hitter Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) and the RBI single up-the-middle off the bat of right fielder William Seymour (Sloatsburg, N.Y.).
Catcher Brandon Simone (Bayside, N.Y.) added to the lead in the fourth with sacrificie fly ball hit to right field to extend the lead to 3-0.
Bartolomei delivered a run-scoring single through the right side in the top of the fifth to make the score 4-0 and Franzone brought home two more runs in the eighth on a single to center field for the final 6-0 win.
Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) had three hits in the win.
Seymour, Libio and Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) collected two hits each.
Starter Corey Pic (Montvale, N.J.) got the win (3-2) in 7 2/3 innings of work, collecting eight strikeouts and three hits.
Nathanial Popiel (Mechanicville, N.Y.) pitched the final 1 1/3 innings, not allowing a hit and striking out one batter.
With the sweep, Dominican improves to 9-19 overall and 3-5 in CACC play.
