CHARGERS LOSE IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION
Cary, N.C. (3/13/17) The Slippery Rock University baseball team edged the Dominican College Chargers, 8-7, this afternoon in a game played at the USA Baseball National Training Center. With the win, the Rock is now 2-0 against Dominican and will conclude the four-game series tomorrow with a double-header.

SRU led 3-0 after two innings when Dominican got on the scoreboard in the third with two runs on a balk and a sacrifice fly ball of the batter of designated hitter Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.).
The Chargrers took a 6-3 advantage in the fifth stanza as Justin Decker
(Rotterdam, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch and Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) came home on a balk. Third basemen Justin Cancel (Seaford, N.Y.) hit an RBI single and shortstop Joseph Libio (Tamarac, Fla.) followed with a run-scoring double.
The Rock countered with three runs in the seventh inning to tie the score at 6-6.
DC regained a 7-6 lead in the eighth as senior Max Franzone (Nanuet, N.Y.) singled home Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.).
Slippery Rock used a two-run home run in the ninth to propel them to the 8-7 win.
Reliever Kraigen Rasalla (Scranton, Pa.) suffered the loss (1-1) in 2/3 innings of work, allowing two runs on three hits and two strikeouts.
Starter Nicholas Galese (Totowa, N.J.) went five innings in the no decision, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and five strikeouts.
