CHARGERS SPLIT WITH UNIVERSITY OF THE SCIENCES
Philadelphia, Pa. (3/25/17) The Dominican College baseball team split their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season opener with host the University of the Sciences in games played this afternoon at Richie Asburn Field. The Devils took game one, 4-3, in ten innings while Dominican charged to a 9-0 victory in the night cap.

(3/25/17) The Dominican College baseball team split their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season opener with host the University of the Sciences in games played this afternoon at Richie Asburn Field. The Devils took game one, 4-3, in ten innings while Dominican charged to a 9-0 victory in the night cap.
Game One: USCI struck for a run in the third inning and held the lead until the fifth when DC brought a run home on the sacrifice fly off the bat of Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.).
The Devils score two runs in the bottom of the fifth to regain the lead, but Dominican countered with a run in the eighth off a Devil fielding error and tied the game in the ninth as Soto picked up his second run batted in of the game off a single.
In the tenth, the Chargers put two runners on base but were unable to score them and in the bottom half a single brought home the game-winning run.
Designated hitter Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) had three hits, while Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) added two hits. Soto finished with two RBIs.
Reliever Kraigen Rasalla (Scranton, Pa.) suffered the loss.
Game Two: Dominican scored four runs in the fourth and fifth innings as they cruised to the 9-0 shut out win.
Decker went 4-4 in the game, while Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) added three hits.
Soto finished with three RBIs.
Soto and Bartolomei both had two-run hits in the fourth, while Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) had a two-run double in the fifth.
Stater Nathanial Popiel (Mechanicville, N.Y.) got the win in six innings of work, scatting just two hits.
Following the split, the Chargers are now 6-9 overall and 1-1 in CACC play.
Dominican will travel to Caldwell University in a conference double-header this coming Wednesday afternoon.
