BASEBALL EARNS SPLIT WITH CALDWELL UNIVERSITY
Caldwell, N.J. (3/29/17) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Caldwell University, in games played today at Kiwanis Oval. Caldwell rallied with three runs in the bottom of the ninth to win the first game, 4-3, while the Chargers took the night cap, 6-3.

Caldwell, N.J. (3/29/17) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Caldwell University, in games played today at Kiwanis Oval. Caldwell rallied with three runs in the bottom of the ninth to win the first game, 4-3, while the Chargers took the night cap, 6-3.
With the split, Dominican now stands at 7-10 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
Game One: DC scored two runs in the first on a double by first baseman Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) and later extended the lead to 3-0 in the sixth when Bernacet singled home Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.).
The Cougars got a run back in the eighth and scored three runs on back-to-back hits with two outs in the ninth to rally to the 4-3 win.
Bernacet finished with two hits and three runs-batted in, while Colon scored two runs.
Reliever Arben Becaj (Brooklyn, N.Y.) suffered the loss (0-3) in one and 2/3 innings of relief, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits.
Starter Brett Schneider (Coral Springs, Fla.) went seven innings in the no decision, striking out seven and scattering five hits.
Game Two: Dominican once again scored in the top of the first as Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y) recorded the RBI groundout.
The Chargers added a run in the third as Bernacet singled to center field to plate a run and tacked on four more in the sixth for the 6-0 lead. In the sixth, right fielder Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.) hit a single to right field to bring home a run and left fielder Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) followed with a two0run single to right field. Joseph Libio (Tamarac, Fla.) hit a fly ball to center to bring home the fourth DC run of the inning.
Caldwell scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth for the final 6-3 score.
Bernacet and Max Franzone (Nanuet, N.Y.) each had two hits in the win, while Franzone scored two runs.
Kraigen Rasalla (Scranton, Pa.) got the complete game victory (2-3), allowing three runs (none earned) on five hits and collecting seven strikeouts.
Dominican is set to host Bloomfield College this coming Friday at Palisades Credit Union Park.
