Pomona, N.Y. (4/8/17) The Dominican College baseball team fell in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action today to the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University. The 'Cats won the first game, 9-4 and defeated the host, 11-2 in the night cap.

Pomona, N.Y. (4/8/17) The Dominican College baseball team fell in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action today to the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University. The 'Cats won the first game, 9-4 and defeated the host, 11-2 in the night cap.
Game One: The Chargers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on the infield RBI single off the bat of Joseph Libio (Tamarac, Fla.). The 'Cats tied the game with a win in the third, but Dominican took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on the sacrifice fly ball hit to centerfield from Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) that brought home Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.).
Wilmington used two runs in the sixth to pull ahead, 3-2, but the Chargers rallied once again with a two-run bottom of the seventh on back-to-back sacrifice fly balls from Bernacet and Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) to take a 4-3 lead.
WU scored four runs in the eighth and added two more in the ninth en route to the 9-4 win.
Center fielder Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.) had three hits in the loss.
Nicholas Galese (Totowa, N.J.) took the loss (0-2) in one and 2/3 innings of relief.
Game Two: Dominican trailed 4-0 until the fourth inning when they scored a run on the RBI single to right field off the bat of Soto.
Wilmington tacked on seven more runs in the fifth and six frames to increase the lead to 11-1, while the Chargers added a run in the bottom of the sixth on the RBI ground out from Donald Crispyn (Freeport, N.Y.) for the final 11-2 score.
Kraigen Rasalla (Scranton, Pa.) took the loss (3-4) in four and 1/3 innings of work, allowing seven runs (four earned) on 10 hits and four strikeouts.
Following the losses, Dominican is now 10-15 overall and 5-7 in CACC play.
