Nyack, N.Y. (4/13/17) The Dominican College baseball team fell in a non-conference double-header to host Nyack College, 2-1 and 3-1, in games played this afternoon at the Nyack High School.
Game One: The Warriors struck first with a run in the second inning on a Charger fielding error. Dominican rallied to tie the game in the third inning on the RBI ground out from designated hitter Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) which brought home Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.).
An RBI triple in the bottom of the fourth by Nyack lifted them to the 2-1 lead and eventual victory.
John-Michael Broderick (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) took the loss (2-2) in five innings of work, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and three strikeouts.
Game Two: Dominican took a 1-0 lead in the third stanza as right fielder Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) hit a run-scoring double to left field to bring home Brandon Simone (Bayside, N.Y.).
NC countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-1 advantage and added a run in the fifth for a 3-1 win.
Colon finished with two hits in the loss.
Starter Nicholas Galese (Totowa, N.J.) took the loss (0-3) in four innings of work, allowing three runs on six hits and three strikeouts.
Following the losses, Dominican falls to 12-18 overall.
