BASEBALL SPLITS WITH PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY
Philadelphia, Pa. (4/23/17) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Philadelphia University, in games played this afternoon at Alumni Field. Dominican fell in the opener, 6-5, but took game two, 7-1.

Philadelphia, Pa. (4/23/17) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Philadelphia University, in games played this afternoon at Alumni Field. Dominican fell in the opener, 6-5, but took game two, 7-1.
With the split, Dominican is now 14-21 overall and 9-9 in CACC play.
Game One: Dominican scored a run in the top of the first inning as first basemen Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) hit a run-scoring double to center field for the early 1-0 lead.
DC added two more runs in the third as left fielder Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) hit a two out solo home run over the left field fence and two batters later, Bartolomei delivered a single to left field to bring home a run.
The Rams scored a run in the bottom of the third, added three more in the fifth, one in the seventh and one in the eighth to claim a 6-3 lead.
Second basemen Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) hit a two out two-run double to right centerfield in the eighth to cut the deficit to 6-5.
Reliever Arben Becaj (Brooklyn, N.Y.) suffered the loss (1-4) in two innings of work, allowing two runs (one eanred) on two hits and four strikeouts.
Game Two: The Chargers scored runs in the first three innings to jump in front 7-1.
Decker got the scoring going with a sacrifice fly out to center field to bring home a run and Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) followed with an RBI single to left field. Catcher Tyler Malia (Delran, N.J.) singled down the left field line to bring home the third Charger run.
Shortstop Joseph Libio (Tamarac, Fla.) led off the second inning with a solo blast over the left field fence and later two runs scored on a failed pick off attempt.
In the third inning, Gray singled home a run for the 7-1 lead and eventual win.
Malia finished the game with two hits.
Kraigen Rasalla (Scranton, Pa.) improved to 5-5 with the complete game win, allowing one run on four hits and seven strikeouts.
