Dominican scored two runs in the first on an Clipper error and an RBI ground out from Justin Decker (Rotterdame, N.Y.).
DC added three runs in the second on back-to-back run-scoring hits from Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) and Max Franzone (Nanuet, N.Y.). Two batters later, first basemen Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) hit a sacrifice fly ball to centerfield to give the team a 5-0 lead.
The Clippers got on the scoreboard with a run in the fourth stanza, but DC added two runs in their half of the fourth and added two mroe in the fifth for the 9-1 lead. Bartolomei doubled home a run and a Concordia fielding error allowed the second run to score.
In the fifth, Colon scored on a wild pitch and Franzone hit a run-scoring single to right center field.
Lucas Salerno (Oradell, N.J.) got the win (1-0) in six innings of work, allowing one run on four hits and two strikeouts.
Malik Dixon (Bronx, N.Y.) pitched the last three innings and collected four strikeouts.
Franzone, Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.) and Brendan Woodruff (Cincinnati, Ohio) all collected two hits a-piece in the win.
Franzone and Bartolomei both had two RBIs.
With the win, Dominican improves to 16-23 overall.
