With the loss, Dominican falls to 17-25 on the year.
Dominican got on the board in the top of the first as Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Co-Player of the Week, Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.), grounded out to second base and allowed a run to score.
STAC responded in the bottom frame with three runs and added ten more over the next three innings to jump out to a 13-1 advantage. DC got two runs back in the fifth inning as Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) hit a run-scoring single to centerfield and the next batter, Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) got an RBI ground out to make the score 13-3.
The Spartans countered with two runs in the bottom fo the fifth to extend their lead. Dominican scored two runs in the seventh on a wild pitch and a fielder's choice, while bringing home two more runs in the eighth on a Donald Crispyn (Freeport, N.Y.) single to center to cut the defict to 15-7. A STAC run in bottom of the eighth was the final run of the contest in the 16-7 Spartan win.
Bartolomei finished with two hits.
Crispyn and Soto each produced two RBIs in the loss.
Lucas Salerno (Oradell, N.J.) took the loss (1-1) in three innings of work, allowing eight runs on seven hits.
The Chargers wrap up the regular season tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Molloy College.
