#6 CHARGERS SHUT OUT #3 POST UNIVERSITY IN CACC FIRST ROUND CONTEST
Waterbury, Conn. (5/7/17) The Dominican College baseball team shut out the Post University Eagles, 7-0 this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) First Round Game played at Municipal Stadium.

With the win, the sixth seeded Chargers (18-26) move on to the double-elimination portion of the CACC Tournament next week, hosted by Post University in Waterbury, Conn. The tournament will begin on May 11 with a champion to be crown on Saturday, May 13. Dominican will take on #2 Wilmington University on Thursday, at 12pm at Municipal Stadium.
The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when the Chargers struck for three runs on four hits. Desginated hitter Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) got things going wit an RBI single to center field and catcher Tyler Malia (Delran, N.J.) followed with a sacrifice fly ball to center field. Two batters later, shortstop Joseph Libio (Tamarac, Fla.) delivered a run-scoring single to left field for the 3-0 lead.
DC added three more runs in the seventh frame as first basemen Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) produced an RBI single to center field and Bernacet later followed with a two-run single to center field to increase the lead to 6-0.
The final run came in the eighth as senior Max Franzone (Nanuet, N.Y.) brought home a run on a single to left field for the 7-0 win.
Bartolomei and Libio each had three hits in the win, while Bernacet finished with three runs batted in.
Kraigen Rasalla (Scranton, Pa.) picked up the shut out win (6-5) in eight innings of work, scattering four hits.
