#6 CHARGERS ADVANCE TO WINNER'S BRACKET OF CACC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Waterbury, Conn. (5/11/17) The Dominican College baseball team advanced to the winner's bracket of the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Championships this afternoon after defeating the #2 Wilmington University Wildcats, 4-0, in a game played at Municipal Stadium. This portion of the tournament, hosted by Post University, is double-elimination with the finals scheduled for this coming Saturday.

This portion of the tournament, hosted by Post University, is double-elimination with the finals scheduled for this coming Saturday.
The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when the Chargers struck for two runs. All-CACC First Team selection, Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) hit a sacrifice fly ball to left field which allowed Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.) to come home and two batters later freshman Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) delieverred a two out run-scoring double to left field to plate first basemen Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.).
DC added a run in the fifth stanza on the infield single off the bat of Bartolomei that brought home senior Max Franzone (Nanuet, N.Y.) and increase the lead to 3-0.
In the sixth, a single up-the-middle from left fielder Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) allowed Joseph Libio (Tamarac, Fla.) to come home and give Dominican the 4-0 lead and eventual win.
Bartolomei went 3-5 on the day, while Colon and Franzone each contributed two hits.
Senior Brett Schneider (Coral Springs, Fla.) picked up the complete game shut out victory to improve to 3-3 on the season. Over nine innings, he scattered just three hits, gave up two walks and struck out five batters.
Dominican (19-26) will take on #4 Chestnut Hill College tomorrow afternoon at 12pm at Municipal Stadium.
