RASALLA THROWS SECOND SHUT OUT OF TOURNAMENT AS BASEBALL ADVANCES TO CACC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Waterbury, Conn. (5/12/17) Junior pitcher Kraigen Rasalla (Scranton, Pa.) threw his second shut out performance of the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships as the sixth-seeded Chargers defeated #4 Chestnut Hill College, 7-0, this afternoon in a game played at Municipal Stadium.

(5/12/17) Junior pitcher Kraigen Rasalla (Scranton, Pa.) threw his second shut out performance of the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships as the sixth-seeded Chargers defeated #4 Chestnut Hill College, 7-0, this afternoon in a game played at Municipal Stadium.
Rasalla improved to 7-5 on the season in the complete game victory, scattering just five hits and striking out 10 batters.
The Charger offense wasted not time getting on the scoreboard as the RBI ground out by center fielder Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.) gave the team the 1-0 edge.
DC added four more runs in the second on four hits and one error to extend the lead to 5-0. Freshman Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) hit a two-run double to right center field and two batters later, he would score on a wild pitch. A two-out RBI single to left field off the bat of sophomore Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) scored the fourth run of the inning for the Chargers.
In the seventh, catcher Tyler Malia (Delran, N.J.) and shortstop Joseph Libio (Tamarac, Fla.) each contributed run-scoring singles to increase the lead to 7-0.
Libio, Malia and senior Max Franzone (Nanuet, N.Y.) all had two hits in the win.
Colon contributed two runs batted in.
Dominican will take on the Griffins again in the CACC Championship Final scheduled for tomorrow morning at 9am at Municipal Stadium. CHC defeated eliminated #2 Wilmington University, 5-3, to advance to the finals.
The if necessary game would be played thirty minutes following game one, weather permitting.
