Cary, N.C. (3/10/18) The Chargers fell in a double header to the New York Institute of Technology Bears by a score of 4-2 and St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday. The Chargers were in search of their first win of the season but they were unable to secure the victories.
Game One: John-Michael Broderick (Spring Lake Heights, NJ) took the hill for the Chargers against the Bears. The Bears struck first in the second inning with two runs. Dominica Paolo drove in the Bear's first run after a leadoff double to start the rally. Paolo scored after Nick Vitale's single to help extend the Bear's lead out to 2-0.
The Chargers tied the game with two runs in the fifth inning when Justin Decker (Rotterdam, NY) ripped a double to score Elijah Tavarez (Valley, Stream, NY) who led the inning off with a walk. Joe Rotelli (Morganville, NJ) drove in the tying run for the Chargers with a single.
The Bears regained the lead in the sixth inning when Paolo drove in his second RBI of the game. The Bears added one more run in the seventh inning and eventually secured the 4-2 victory. Broderick pitched six innings for the Chargers and struck out four batters.
The Chargers fell to 0-10 on the season while the Bears improved to 1-2-1 on the season.
