BASEBALL SPLITS CACC DOUBLE-HEADER WITH NYACK COLLEGE
Pomona, N.Y. (4/5/18) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division double-header with the visiting Warriors of Nyack College in games played today at Palisades Credit Union Park. Dominican wn the first game, 4-3 while the Warriors took home the nightcap by the score of 8-2.

Pomona, N.Y. (4/5/18) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division double-header with the visiting Warriors of Nyack College in games played today at Palisades Credit Union Park. Dominican wn the first game, 4-3 while the Warriors took home the nightcap by the score of 8-2.
With the split the Chargers are now 6-17 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
Game One: The game was scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Charger offense awoke with three runs on three hits. Junior firstbasemen Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) delivered a two-run single to left center field and designated hitter Joe Rotelli (Morganville, N.J.) recorded a two our RBI single up-the-middle for the 3-0 lead.
DC added a run in the seventh as left fielder Elijah Tavarez (Valley Stream, N.Y.) knocked in a run on the run-scoring single up-the-middle to increase the lead to 4-0. Nyack got a run back in the top of the eighth and added two more in the ninth for the final 4-3 Charger win.
Bartolomei finished with two hits and two RBIs, while Rotelli also had two hits.
Starter John-Michael Broderick (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) picked up the win (2-2) in eight innings of work, allowing three runs on seven hits and three strikeouts.
Christopher Catoire (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded his first save of the season after coming in to record the final two outs of the game.
Game Two: Nyack got the scoring going in the nightcap with two runs in the top of the first. DC responded with a run in the bottom stanza on the RBI single to left center field from Bartolomei.
NC scored runs in the third and fourth frames to increase their lead to 7-1 and added a run in the sixth to make the score 8-1. The Chargers brought home a run in the bottom of the seventh on the two out RBI double down the left field line off the bat of Bartolomei for the final 8-2 Nyack victory.
Bartolomei had three hits and drove in two runs, while Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) recorded two hits.
