Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/11/18) The Chargers swept the Eagles of Post University at home on Wednesday improving their record to 10-18 (8-3 CACC). The Chargers took game one by a score of 3-0 and game two by a score of 10-1.
Game One: Nicholas Galese (Totowa, N.J.) took the mound for the Chargers in game one. Both teams were scoreless through the first two innings. The Chargers scratched a run across in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead when Elijah Tavarez (Valley Stream, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch.
The Chargers extended their lead to 2-0 in the fifth inning when Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) hit an RBI double to drive in Joseph Libio (Tamarac, Fla). The Chargers scored their third and final run of the game in the seventh inning when Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) recorded and RBI single to give the Chargers a 3-0 lead.
The Chargers finished off the 3-0 win as Galese earned the win in six innings pitched and recorded seven strikeouts. Christopher Catoire (Brooklyn, N.Y.) pitched three innings in relief to earn his second save of the season.
Game Two: John-Michael Broderick (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) took the mound for the Chargers in game two. The Eagles got off to a fast start in the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead when Tyler Pavone hit an RBI double. The Chargers countered with two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-1 lead when Decker and Bartolomei each recorded RBI singles.
Decker doubled in two runs in the second inning to give the Chargers a 4-1 lead. In the third inning, Brett-Karcher Bowen (Cypress, Texas) extended the Charger lead to 5-1 with an RBI single. The Chargers extended their lead to 10-1 in the fifth inning with a five-run inning.
Ryan Siuta (Pomona, N.Y.) entered the game in relief to help secure the 10-1 win. Broderick earned his third win on the season in six innings pitched. Decker recorded three RBI's in the win while Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) and Tavarez recorded two RBI's. Bowen, Libio, Bartolomei, and Shota Barbeau (Atlanta, Ga.) all recorded one RBI in the win.
The Chargers will be back in action when the host Concordia College on Friday April 13th for a CACC doubleheader at Palisades Credit Union Park. Game one will start at 3:00 PM and game two is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
