BASEBALL DROPS CONFERENCE GAME TO JEFFERSON

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/22/18) The Chargers fell in a conference game to Jefferson University on Sunday by a score of 4-2. The game was played at Veteran's Memorial Park. With the loss, the Chargers drop to 13-26 (11-11 CACC) on the season. Jefferson improves to 15-23 (12-12 CACC) with the win.
The Rams rallied in the second inning and jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Timothy Brodhog started the inning with a double. Austin Torres singled in Brodhog for the 1-0 lead. Arturo Figuroa singled in the second run of the game for the Rams. The Rams added on more run in the second inning for the 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Chargers got on the board to cut the deficit to 3-1. Joshua Colon (Bronx, NY) recorded the RBI to get the Chargers on the board.
The Chargers scored their second run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning to cut the deficit to 3-2. The Rams added an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning when Joseph Iannuzzi hit an RBI triple to make the score 4-2.
Daniel Sabath closed the game out and secured the 4-2 win for the Rams as he recorded his second save on the season. Jake Goldberg earned his second win on the season and recorded three strikeouts over six innings.
Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, NJ), Justin Decker (Rotterdam, NY), and Joshua Colon recorded hits for the Chargers. Colon recorded an RBI in the loss for the Chargers.
The Chargers will be back in action on Tuesday April 24th when the travel to Bloomfield College for a conference doubleheader against the Bears. Game on is scheduled for 11:30 AM and game two is scheduled for 2:30 PM.
