EAGLES RALLY TWICE TO SWEEP CHARGERS
Waterbury, Conn. (4/26/18) The Post University baseball team rallied twice in their final at-bat to sweep the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 3-2 and 7-6, this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division action played at Municipal Stadium.

Waterbury, Conn. (4/26/18) The Post University baseball team rallied twice in their final at-bat to sweep the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 3-2 and 7-6, this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division action played at Municipal Stadium.
With the losses, Dominican is now 14-29 overall and 12-14 in the CACC.
Game One: The Chargers got on the scoreboard in the top of the second as designated hitter Joe Rotelli (Morganville, N.J.) hit a sacrifice fly ball to right field which allowed Brian Rotella (Stony Point, N.Y.) to score. Two batters later, an RBI bunt groundout by catcher Brett Karcher-Bowen (Cypress, Texas) put DC ahead 2-0.
Post countered in the bottom frame with two runs on a double to left field to re-tie the game. The score would remain 2-2 until the bottom of the ninth when a two out RBI single to left field lifted the Eagles to the 3-2 win.
Rotella and Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.) each had two hits for Dominican in the loss.
Game Two: Post scored two runs in their first at-bat in the nightcap on consecutive hits to claim the early 2-0 lead. Dominican got both runs back in the third as Rotella had a run-scoring infield single and third basemen Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) later followed with a RBI single to center field to re-tie the score, 2-2.
The Eagles were quick to re-take a lead as they added two runs in the bottom of the third on a two-run triple to left field and gain a 4-2 advantage and added a run in the fifth on an error to pull ahead, 5-2.
A fielder's choice RBI off the bat of junior Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) made the score 5-3 in the sixth and Dominican addded three more runs in the seventh as left fielder Colin Pasone (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) was hit by-a-pitch with the bases loaded, a fielding error and a bases loaded walk to Decker to give DC the 6-5 lead. A single to right field in the bottom of the seventh tied the game and a sacrifice fly ball to center field allowed the game-winning run to score and five them the 7-6 win.
Colin finished with four hits in the loss.
Elijah Tavarez (Valley Stream, N.Y.) had three hits, while Rotelli had two hits and Decker tallied two RBIs.
The Chargers return to action this coming Sunday when they host the University of the Sciences. Game one is slated to begin at 12pm at Palisades Credit Union Park.
