New Castle, Del. (4/30/18) The Chargers split a conference doubleheader on Monday when they traveled to Wilmington University.

New Castle, Del. (4/30/18) The Chargers split a conference doubleheader on Monday when they traveled to Wilmington University. The Wildcats defeated the Chargers in game one by a score of 9-2and the Chargers bounced back to take game two by a score of 11-5. The Chargers are now 17-30 (15-15 CACC) and the Wildcats are 28-18 (23-9 CACC).
Game One: The Wildcats opened the scoring in the second inning with two runs to take a 2-0 lead. The Wildcats added one run in the third inning and three runs in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 6-0.
The Wildcats made the score 7-0 in the sixth inning. Dominican got on the board in the eighth inning when Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, NJ) drove in the Chargers' first run. The Wildcats added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to extend their lead to 9-1.
Joe Rotelli (Morganville, NJ) drove in the Charger's second run in the ninth inning to make the score 9-2 but the Wildcats were able to secure the win in game one. Joshua Colon (Bronx, NY) recorded three hits in the loss. Sean Deely earned the win by pitching seven innings and recorded five strikeouts. Bryce Carney and Micky Foytik pitched in relief to help secure the win for the Wildcats.
Game Two: Dominican took a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning in game two. The Wildcats answered with four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 4-3 lead. Wilmington added to their lead in the third inning to make the score 5-3.
Dominican added a run in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to one run. The Chargers regained the lead in the seventh inning with three runs and added four more runs in the ninth inning to take an 11-5 lead. Dominican scored eight unanswered runs to help them secure the 11-5 win.
Elijah Tavarez (Valley Stream, NY), Joe Rotelli, and Joshua Colon contributed two RBI's in the win. Justin Decker (Rotterdam, NY), Anthony Bartolomei, and Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.) drove in one RBI each. Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, NY) earned the win for the Chargers after entering the game in relief.
The Chargers will be back in action on Wednesday, May 2nd when they host Caldwell University for their final doubleheader of the season. Game one will start at 3:00 PM and game two is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
