BASEBALL TABBED SECOND IN DIVISION IN 2019 CACC BASEBALL PRESEASON COACHES POLL

(2/4/19) Post University and Wilmington University were tabbed first in the North and South Divisions, respectively, according to the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced on Monday by Commissioner Dan Mara. The Eagles earned 66 points (7 1st-place votes), while the Wildcats garnered 68 points and eight first-place nods. The voting for the poll was conducted by the league's 12 head coaches in the sport.

The Eagles earned 66 points (7 1st-place votes), while the Wildcats garnered 68 points and eight first-place nods. The voting for the poll was conducted by the league's 12 head coaches in the sport.
The Eagles captured the 2018 CACC North Division crown on the way to hosting the double-elimination portion of the conference championship. Post finished 30-22 overall and won 20 games in conference as well. Post edged out Dominican College in the voting, as the Chargers placed second in the North with a total of 65 points and five first-place votes. Dominican claimed the 2017 CACC Championship and reached the double-elimination round last season in the conference tournament. Concordia College (39 pts) rounded out the top three in the voting in the North Division.
Wilmington enters the 2019 season as the defending CACC Champion, as the Wildcats knocked off last year's regular season champion Felician University twice on the final day of the tournament to claim the league crown. The Wildcats' 68 points were six better than the Golden Falcons, who were second in the voting with 62 points and three first-place votes. Chestnut Hill College was third in the South voting with 42 points. The Griffins advanced to the CACC Championship Final just two years ago in 2017.
The 2019 CACC Baseball season gets underway this weekend, as Nyack College travels down South to face Barton in a four-game series on Saturday and Sunday. Several more teams get their campaigns underway the following weekend down in the Southern states. The regular season will be a build up to the CACC Championship tournament on May 4 and 9-11. The first round will be at the sites of the highest seeds on Saturday the 4th, while Post will once again serve as the host institution for the double-elimination tournament on the 9th through 11th at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury, Conn.
