Dominican won the opener, 9-7 but fell in the nightcap, 12-6.

Little Ferry, N.J. (3/29/19) Dominican College senior second basemen Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) became the program's all-time leader in hits after recording his 225th career hit on a two out single in the top of the fourth of game two of the Chargers double-header with host Bloomfield College played today. Dominican won the opener, 9-7 but fell in the nightcap, 12-6.

The record breaking hit for Decker was a single through the left side and puts him in the top spot in the Charger Record Book, besting alum Christoper Cannelliz (1999-2002) who recorded 224 hits in his career.

Following the split, Dominican is now 14-9 overall and 7-3 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.

Game One:  Bloomfield held a 3-2 lead until the top of the seventh inning when Dominican struck for four runs on two hits with two outs.  Designated hitter Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) drew the bases loaded walk and Elijah Tavarez (Valley Stream, N.Y.) followed with a three-run triple to left center field to give DC the 6-3 lead.

BC would score runs in the seventh and eighth inning to re-tie the game, 6-6 but the Chargers tacked on three more runs in their half of the ninth on the three-run double to left field off the bat of shortstop Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) for the 9-6 advantage.  The Bears added a run in the ninth for the final 9-7 win.

Tavarez went 3-4 with three runs scored, while Decker went 2-3 with two runs scored.

Freshman Cole Francher (Gilboa, N.Y.) improved to 4-0 on the season in one inning of relief, while Nicholas Bolanos (Miami, Fla.) picked up his second save.

Game Two:  Dominican took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first on a RBI single from Decker and the solo home run from senior Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.).  The Bears rallied for four runs in the bottom frame, but DC regained the lead in the second on the two-run blast over the right centerfield fence from sophomore catcher Benjamin Meza (Miami, Fla.) for the 5-4 advantage.

BC rebuilt a lead in the bottom of the second after bring home four more runs and added two more in the third for a commanding 10-5 lead.  Following two more runs in the fifth to extend the lead to 12-5, Dominican scored a run in the seventh on a fielder's choice RBI.

Tavarez, Bartolomei and Decker all had two hits in the loss, including Decker's recording breaking hit.

Jordyn Schwark (Kingston, N.Y.) took the loss.

The Chargers return to action tomorrow when they travel to conference foe, Felician University.
