(5/9/19) The Dominican College baseball team, the second seed in the North Division, advanced to the winner's bracket of the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Championships after defeating #4N Bloomfield College, 6-2 in a game played this afternoon at Municipal Stadium.

Waterbury, Conn. (5/9/19) The Dominican College baseball team, the second seed in the North Division, advanced to the winner's bracket of the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Championships after defeating #4N Bloomfield College, 6-2 in a game played this afternoon at Municipal Stadium.

Dominican got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning when senior Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) produced an RBI ground out to second base to plate freshman Kennee Torres (Yonkers, N.Y.) and give DC the 1-0 edge.

In the bottom of the fourth third basemen Billy Rotella (Stony Point, N.Y.) scored on a passed ball to extend the lead to 2-0.

Bloomfield tied the game in the eighth when a run scored on a fielding error and Kendon Strachan followed with a run-scoring double down the left field line to tie the game at 2-2.

The Chargers countered in their half of the eighth with two outs as senior Elijah Tavarez (Valley Stream, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch and two batters later, shortstop Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) delivered a double to left-center field to score catcher Brett Karcher-Bowen (Cypress, Texas) and rebuild a 4-2 advantage.  Colon later scored on the third wild pitched of the inning and Brian Sanders reached on a Bear error which allowed Torres to score and make the score 6-2.

Reliever Cole Fancher (Gilboa, N.Y.) struck out two of the three batters in the ninth to secure the win.  He improved to 6-0 in 1 and 1/3 innings of relief.

Senior John-Michael Broderick (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) went 7 and 2/3 innings, allowing two runs (none earned) on six hits and two strikeouts.

Colon and Rotella each had two hits in the win.

DC will take on #2S Wilmington University tomorrow at 12pm.  The winner will move on to Saturday's CACC Championship Final. The losing team will have to turn around and play at 3 p.m., against the winner of Thursday's elimination game. The winner of that contest will also advance to Saturday's final, but would need to win the first game at 12 p.m., followed by the "if necessary" game at 3 p.m., to hoist the CACC Championship trophy.
