CHARGERS BASEBALL TO HOLD FIRST PITCH DINNER
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/5/20) The Dominican College Athletics Department and the Dominican Chargers baseball program have announced the opportunity for Charger alumni, friends, family and fans to kick off the upcoming 2020 season with a memorable evening at the program's First Pitch Dinner. The banquet is scheduled for Feb. 15th at 6:00 p.m. in the Granito Center.

(2/5/20) The Dominican College Athletics Department and the Dominican Chargers baseball program have announced the opportunity for Charger alumni, friends, family and fans to kick off the upcoming 2020 season with a memorable evening at the program's First Pitch Dinner. The banquet is scheduled for Feb. 15th at 6:00 p.m. in the Granito Center.
Tickets for the banquet are $60.00 for individuals and $100.00 for a couple. Tickets can be purchased online here.
Former Chargers Tom McNamara and Kevin Baez, as well as Nelson Figueroa, will be the evening's Special Guest Speakers.
McNamara, a 1988 graduate of Dominican College, began his professional career with the Bellingham Mariners, a minor league affiliate for the Seattle Mariners. Upon the completion of his playing career, McNamara became an assistant coach for Rockland Community College, where he helped guide the team to the 1993 NJCAA World Series. McNamara then returned to the Seattle Mariners organization, becoming an areas scout. McNamara is currently the Assistant to the General Manager where his responsibilities include the scouting of amateur, professional and international talent. McNamara was a member of the Dominican College Hall of Fame class of 1995.
Baez was selected in the 7th Round of the 1988 MLB Draft by the New York Mets. He began his professional career with the Little Falls Mets. He made his Major League debut in on September 3rd, 1990 against the St. Louis Cardinals. Baez remained with the Mets until 1993. Upon the completion of his playing career, Baez has spent time coaching in the New York Mets organization, as well as serving as the head coach of the Long Island Ducks. Baez is currently the manager of the Rockland Boulders of the Frontier League.
Figueroa, a 1995 graduate of Brandeis University, was selected in the 30th round of the 1995 MLB Draft by the New York Mets. Figueroa made his major league debut with the Diamondbacks during the 2000 season, becoming the first Brandeis University alumnus to reach the major leagues. During the course of his professional career, Figueroa played for 9 different teams. Figueroa pitched for the Puerto Rican national team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic where he won a silver medal.
The First Pitch Dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a meet and greet with Coach Rick Giannetti, as well as other Dominican College coaches, players, and other special Charger baseball guests. Following the meet and greet, there will be a buffet dinner and drinks, as well as Door Prizes, Raffles, Tricky Tray auction, and a 50/50 to support the Dominican College Baseball Team.
The Chargers will open their 2020 season on Feb. 21 against the Franklin Pierce Ravens at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC.
