BASEBALL SPLITS DOUBLE-HEADER WITH UNIVERSITY OF THE SCIENCES
Philadelphia, Pa. (4/24/21) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, University of the Sciences, in games played today at Richie Ashburn Field. DC won the opener 21-12, but fell 6-5 in the nightcap.

Philadelphia, Pa. (4/24/21) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, University of the Sciences, in games played today at Richie Ashburn Field. DC won the opener 21-12, but fell 6-5 in the nightcap.
With the split Dominican is now 11-6 overall and 5-4 in the CACC.
Game One: Dominican accounted for 17 of the combined 32 hits in the 21-12 game one win. The Chargers led 3-2 when the offense exploded with a seven run top of the third inning to jump ahead 10-2. Following a one run fourth inning, DC scored five runs in both the fifth and sixth frames en route to the 21-12 win.
Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Honduras) and Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) led the way with four RBI each in the win. Sanders went 3-6 with a run scored, while Colon wen 2-4 with two runs scored.
Catcher Arthur Quinones (Miami, Fla.), Bobby Garbuio (Chappaqua, N.Y.) also recorded three hits each, while Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.) brought in three RBI.
Maverick Medina (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) picked up the win to improve to 2-1 on the year in one and 2/3 innings of relief.
Game Two: The Chargers got on the scoreboard in the top of the first as Colon got things going with an RBI double and later scored on a fielding error for the early lead. USCI answered in the bottom half of the inning with two runs to re-tie the game.
Colon got things started again for DC in the third as hit a run-scoring single and came home on the RBI double to center field off the bat of Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) to re-gain the 4-2 advantage.
The Devils once again countered in the bottom of the fourth with two runs to make the score 4-4, but DC took their third lead of the game in the fifth on the two out solo home run from Paulino for the 5-4 edge.
USciences scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth on two solo home runs to bring home the 6-5 win.
Starter William Espinal (Bronx, N.Y.) took the loss (1-3) in six innings of work, allowing six runs on seven hits.
Paulino finished with three RBI in the game.
Colon went 2-4 with two runs scored and two RBI.
Dominican is slated to return to action tomorrow when they host Bloomfield College.
