BASEBALL CONCLUDES SPRING BREAK TRIP WITH LOSS TO VIKINGS
Cary, N.C. (3/6/23) The Dominican University New York baseball team concluded their spring break trip with a 7-2 loss to Augustana University in a non-conference game played at the USA Baseball Training Complex.

Following the loss the Chargers end their trip with an overall record of 1-9.
The Vikings led 1-0 after one half-inning of play, but the Chargers countered in the bottom frame with two runs on two hits. Left fielder Tyler Richman (Sunrise, Fla.) led off the inning with a walk and shortstop Peter Kiefer (Waterford, Conn.) followed with a double to left field. Ty Gilligan (Ringwood, N.J.) produced an RBI single to right field, while Jason Sosa-Rivas (Yonkers, N.Y.) brought home a run when he hit into a double play to give Dominican the 2-1 advantage.
Augustana retook the lead in the fourth inning with two runs, added two more in the sixth, one in the seventh and one in the eighth inning for the 7-2 win.
Kiefer finished the game with two hits.
Starter Anthony Leak (Pelham, N.Y.) suffered the loss in five innings of work, while collecting five strikeouts.
Dominican is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Pace University.
