The Chargers fall to 5-27 on the season while the Panthers improve to 14-20 overall. AU and Dominican split the non-conference season series.
The Panthers started the game out strong with six runs in the first inning and five in the second inning. Adelphi would then extend the lead in the third inning with three runs and two runs in the fourth inning. Adelphi added their last run in the seventh inning.
The Chargers scored all seven of their runs in the last two innings. Alexander Reyes (Bronx, N.Y.) put Dominican on the board with an RBI-single. Joseph Coppola (Cornwall, ) followed with a double that scored Reyes.
In the ninth inning, Dominican scratched across their third run on a wild pitch. Stefano Libio (Tamarac, Fla.) added an RBI-single and Reyes followed with a single that drove in his second and third RBIs of the game.
Coppola drove in his second run of the game with an RBI-single to make the score 17-7 which would be the final score. Dominic Morabito (Groton, Conn.) and Ty Gilligan (Ringwood, N.J.) each added two hits.
The Chargers return to action tomorrow against Felician University for a CACC North Division doubleheader beginning at 2:00 PM at Clover Stadium.
