COUGARS DEFEAT CHARGERS BASEBALL
Pomona, N.Y. (4/19/23) The Dominican University New York baseball team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to the visiting Cougars of Caldwell University, 20-5, this afternoon in a game played at Clover Stadium.

Caldwell struck for five runs in the top of the first inning, but Dominican (8-28, 5-10 CACC) countered with three runs in the bottom of the second. Centerfielder Davin Keddell-Tuckey (Troy, N.Y.) hit a run-scoring single up-the-middle and David Knepper (Miami, Fla.) later followed with a two-run single through the right side to cut the lead to 5-3.
The Cougars tacked on seven runs in the third, three runs in the fourth and five runs in the fifth to increase their lead to 20-3. The Chargers scored two runs in their half of the sixth on the one out home run down the right field line off the bat of Phil Whitney (Newark, N.J.) for the 20-5 final score.
First basemen Jason Sosa-Rivas (Yonkers, N.Y.) and catcher Benjamin Avila (Walden, N.Y.) also had a hit in the contest.
Starter Matthew Sabene (Danbury, Conn.) suffered the loss.
Caldwell tallied 20 runs on 22 hits with the starting pitcher picking up the complete game victory.
Dominican returns to action tomorrow when they travel to non-conference opponent, the College of Saint Rose.
