With the victory the Chargers secured the third seed in the North Division in the upcoming CACC Tournament.

Nyack, NY (2/23/11)  The Dominican College men's basketball completed the season series sweep after defeating host, Nyack College, 76-54, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game held at Bowman Gymnasium.  With the victory the Chargers secured the third seed in the North Division in the upcoming CACC Tournament.

Nyack started the game off with a 12-4 lead and later led 23-17 with just over seven minutes left in the first half.  Dominican then went on to score the next 15 points to close out the first half with a 32-23 lead.

The Warriors cut the deficit to single digits to trail by only nine points twice early on in the second half, but a dominating 22-5 run by the Chargers over the next 6:53 extended their lead to 62-36 and they never looked back en route to the 76-54 victory.

Sophomore guard Leon Porter (Laurel, MD) led all scorers with 14 points, shooting 5-8 from the floor and grabbing seven rebounds.  Senior center Almin Hodzic (Budd Lake, NJ) netted 10 points and had a game leading nine rebounds.

Forward Cory Quimby (Otisville, NY) and freshman Nick Smith (Middletown, NY) combined for 16 points and nine rebounds off the bench in the victory.

With the win Dominican improves to 15-12 overall and 11-6 in the CACC.

Dominican wraps up the regular season on Friday night when they host Goldey-Beacom College on Senior Night at the Hennessy Center.  Game time is slated for 8pm on Coach Baxter Court.
